The Mammut Mountain School Weekend is more than an outdoor event. Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, youˇll experience the best of mountain education in sessions covering everything from hiking and trail running to navigation and climbing all delivered by expert guides and instructors. The hills are our classroom, and this is your chance to build real skills that focus on moving competently and confidently in the mountains.

Mountain Skills, Navigation & Safety
Build the confidence to plan safer mountain adventures through practical coaching in navigation, mountain decision-making and the systems used by experienced mountain professionals.
Climbing
Discover the thrill of climbing on real rock whilst developing the skills and confidence to progress your outdoor climbing journey.
Via Ferrata
Experience one of the most exhilarating ways to explore the mountains whilst learning the skills and techniques needed to enjoy Via Ferrata routes around the world.
Scrambling & Alpine Movement
Step beyond hill walking and discover the movement, ropework and mountain judgement that unlock some of the UK’s finest scrambles whilst providing the foundations for bigger alpine adventures overseas.
Trail Running
Discover how to move well in the fells with expert tuition covering navigation, route planning and running technique.

The Mammut Mountain School Weekender has been designed to give you far more than just two days in the mountains. Throughout the weekend you’ll work alongside highly experienced instructors in small groups, receiving professional coaching that’s tailored to your experience, ambitions and objectives. Whether you’re looking to build confidence, prepare for bigger mountain adventures or simply spend a weekend learning from the best, you’ll leave with practical skills, new experiences and a clear pathway for your future development.
Professional Instruction.
Receive expert coaching throughout the weekend from experienced and qualified mountain professionals who are passionate about helping you progress.
Small Coaching Groups.
Low instructor-to-participant ratios ensure plenty of individual coaching, personalised feedback and the opportunity to develop at your own pace.
Technical Equipment Provided.
All specialist technical equipment required for your chosen activity is provided, including helmets, harnesses, ropes and Via Ferrata equipment where appropriate..
Friday Evening Welcome.
Meet your instructors and fellow participants, collect your event information and equipment, and start the weekend with a relaxed introduction to the programme..
Full Day & Half Day Activities.
Enjoy a full day in the mountains on Saturday followed by a half-day session on Sunday, giving you the opportunity to experience multiple disciplines across the weekend.
Mammut Equipment.
Get hands-on with a range of Mammut equipment throughout the weekend and receive expert advice on selecting the right kit for your future adventures.
Personal Progression Advice.

The event is based at Keswick Rugby Club, providing a central hub for registration, briefings and the weekend programme.

We are based at Keswick Rugby Club for the whole weekend, heading out to activities in the surrounding area over the weekend.,

Registration opens at 18.30 onwards on Friday 11th September, followed by a welcome presentation & safety briefing at Keswick Rugby Club.
Participants and instructors meet for 8:30 on both Saturday and Sunday at Keswick Rugby Club for activity sessions.
On Saturday, activities run throughout the day, with participants expected to return to Keswick Rugby Club by approximately 17.00.
On Sunday, activities finish at approximately 12:30, giving you time to enjoy some lunch in Keswick before heading home.

You’ll need to bring the personal equipment you would normally take into the mountains for your chosen activity. A recommended kit list is provided when you book your sessions.
All specialist technical equipment required for your activity, including helmets, harnesses, ropes and Via Ferrata equipment where appropriate, is provided by Mammut Mountain School.

Keswick has a fantastic selection of cafés, pubs and restaurants for breakfast, evening meals and post-event refreshments.
For Saturday’s full-day activities, you’ll need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and plenty of water. You may also wish to bring food for after Sunday’s activities before travelling home.

No. Accommodation is not included as part of the Mammut Mountain School Weekender. Keswick has an excellent range of hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, campsites and self-catering accommodation, giving you plenty of options to suit your budget and preferences.

Professional 16-seat minibuses, driven by our team, will operate throughout the weekend to transport participants between Keswick Rugby Club and the various activity venues as required. Once you’ve arrived at event registration, we’ll take care of the logistics.

Mountain weather is all part of the experience. If conditions aren’t suitable for the planned venue or activity, our instructors will adapt the programme accordingly. We’ll move to more appropriate locations or adjust the day’s activities to ensure you still receive an enjoyable, valuable and safe experience wherever possible.
